My partner Joshua Morgan and I designed a dormitory for a corner condition near Pratt Institute campus. Through the design process and documentation we focus primarily on integrating systems into the overall design. We worked to devise an apartment plan and unit organization within sq. ft restrictions based on the zoning code, and build-able percentage of the property, as well the need for 110 beds overall. Systems such as plumbing electrical and heating were then integrated along with structure. A main focus of this project was the the louver sun shading system applied to the corner and south facing apartments and a lot of attention went to the section through the exterior wall.
